Dr. Prem Reddy Charities of Prime Healthcare

Dr. Prem Reddy and his family established the Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation, originally known as the Desert Valley Charitable Foundation, in 1986. This nonprofit organization has donated millions to various causes, including health education, college scholarships, public healthcare education, and free community clinics. In 2006, they also founded the Prime Healthcare Foundation, which owns fifteen non-profit acute care hospitals across several states, including California, Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Together, these foundations have assets exceeding $800 million.

In the U.S., the Foundations support patients who cannot afford treatment by funding free clinics and organizations that promote preventative care. They also strive to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds can pursue medical careers. Internationally, the Foundations back programs that enhance quality of life, such as providing free medical care and supplies, clean water, new schools, and safe housing.

Through the Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation, Dr. Reddy supports Samaritan’s Purse by donating equipment for clinics in high-need areas of Africa. He also offers scholarships and infrastructure funding for nursing students at various universities and facilities nationwide, pledging over $2.5 million.

Recently, the Foundation funded the California University of Science and Medicine in San Bernardino, which welcomed its first class of students in July 2018.
